John O'Neill

From DOE’s Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office (IEDO), John leads several technical assistance programs intended to help manufacturers operate more efficiently and with lower GHG emissions. John manages the Better Plants program and is the industrial sector lead for the Better Climate Challenge. He also manages the Industrial Technology Validation program.

Previous experience includes an internship at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy on their local policy team, completion of his master’s capstone with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Climate Economics team, and several years of industry experience as an engineer and manager at a chemical manufacturer. He holds a master’s degree in energy and environmental policy from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Minnesota.
