Len Materman

OneShoreline
Since early 2020, Len Materman has served as CEO of the San Mateo County Flood and Sea Level Rise Resiliency District, also known as OneShoreline. OneShoreline was established by State legislation on January 1st of that year as the first independent government agency in California focused on the water-related impacts of climate change.
Len recently served as the first Public Policy Practitioner in Residence at Stanford University’s Center for the American West and was a contributing author to two books on financing climate change resilience.
Previously, Len led a water-focused regional government agency on the San Francisco Peninsula that built the largest sea level rise project to date in California. He has consulted to the US State Department and nonprofits around the world, produced a PBS documentary on water, served as an advisor to the Director of FEMA during the Clinton Administration, and served as UC Berkeley’s Government Affairs Director. He has degrees in Political Science and Biology from UC Davis.
