California Marine Sanctuary Foundation (CMSF) brings 30 years of experience managing complex conservation programs across California- from coastal mountains to the sea- championing science-based solutions that protect ecosystems, wildlife and communities. CMSF coordinates the Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies program, incentivizing and verifying 50+ global shipping lines’ efforts to voluntarily cooperate with Vessel Speed Reduction to reduce fatal ship strike risk, air pollution and underwater noise intensity. Through our Whale Legacy Initiative, CMSF is scaling internationally while developing Sound Sanctuaries, a global designation framework for ocean noise management in partnership with Sonos. CMSF brings together business, government agencies, research institutions, and coastal communities to advance conservation solutions that work for both ocean health and all those that depend on it.
