Shawn Hunter

An expert in sustainability with nearly 20 years of experience in corporate, business, and product sustainability, Dr. Shawn Hunter aspires to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, decarbonized built environment through the power of business leadership. 

As Global Sustainability Director for the DuPont Shelter Solutions business, he works across the organization to drive progress on a business ambition that seeks to help drive whole life carbon of buildings to net zero, advance circularity in the industry, and bring green chemistry solutions to the market.  His role includes driving portfolio decarbonization, building and activating LCA capabilities within the organization, and leading a team of passionate product stewards to enable the business commitment to product stewardship.  Hunter frequently speaks on sustainability and decarbonization in the built environment, and continues to advance a business decarbonization strategy that has delivered GHG reductions that exceed those needed to support the 1.5°C pathway.  

Dr. Hunter is a former LCA certified professional who holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering, with a master’s concentration in environmental sustainability from the University of Michigan.  For fun, he enjoys trying to pick up heavy things and move fast at his local CrossFit affiliate, playing classical piano and metal guitar, and traveling with his wife and two dogs.
