Global design firm HOK has entered into a strategic alliance with Advanced Environmental, a specialist environmental division of Australia-based Lincolne Scott consulting engineers, to advance sustainable design expertise and innovation in commercial building projects throughout the U.S.
As a result of the new alliance, Environmental Design Consultant Andrew Corney has relocated from Sydney to San Francisco to work with HOK’s architectural design practice. Corney has served as the principal environmental design consultant on a range of high-profile projects, including playing a key role in the development of an Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) rating scheme for the $6.6 billion (AUD) Melbourne Docklands Precinct.
HOK is currently collaborating with Advanced Environmental on the conversion of heritage-listed aircraft hangars in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for the National Oceanographic & Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) Pacific Region Center.
“The collaboration between Andrew and our San Francisco architecture practice will strengthen and broaden the expertise we can deliver to our clients, particularly in the area of innovative passive design strategies,” says HOK Sustainable Design Principal Sandy Mendler.
Since formally establishing “sustainable design” as a core value in 1993, HOK has been committed to developing solutions to building performance goals while limiting resource consumption and promoting occupant health and productivity.
“Advanced Environmental is honoured to have the opportunity to work with HOK, one of the world’s leading design firms and a clear leader in sustainable design,” said Advanced Environmental Group Director and Lincolne Scott Joint Managing Director Ché Wall.
