About the session

What’s covered

What if the next decade of aviation wasn’t defined by marginal improvements—but by a radical redesign of how we power, build, and operate flight?

Aviation is at an inflection point, where incremental shifts won’t be enough to meet the climate moment. This tutorial builds on the success of last year’s VERGE 24 aviation workshop to ask a bold, necessary question: What is the future we’re truly aiming for? Participants will dive into the breakthroughs needed across the entire ecosystem—hydrogen fuel cells and electric propulsion, scalable SAF and Power-to-Liquid fuels, contrail mitigation, and radically redesigned aircraft like blended-wing bodies. We’ll also examine the role of airports as climate hubs and the infrastructure challenges that come with deploying step-change technologies at scale. Anchored by expert facilitation and cross-sector collaboration, this session will equip attendees to move beyond today’s constraints and co-create an aligned, ambitious vision for 2035—and the roadmap to get there.

We don’t have ten years to wait for change—we have ten years to build the aviation future we actually want. Attendees will leave with a clear picture of what that future could look like, the breakthrough technologies and systems that can unlock it, and the cross-sector roles they can play in turning bold vision into near-term action.
