About the session

What’s covered

Now that SBTi allows environmental attribute certificates (EACs) to count toward Scope 3, how can buyers tell which ones are actually credible? What quality criteria, verification, and claims practices actually separate a credible EAC from a greenwashed one?

SBTi’s newest Net-Zero Standard, taking effect in early 2027, allows companies for the first time to count environmental attribute certificates toward Scope 3 targets, provided they meet strict quality criteria. That opening is drawing a flood of certificate providers with different levels of quality, and buyers moving fastest are building clear sourcing criteria: verification, no double counting, and registries they can actually trust. Join us for an introduction and overview of EACs before working through real EAC quality questions in small groups, and leave with a practical checklist for telling a credible certificate from one that only looks good on paper.
