Baxter International, the U.S. healthcare company, has launched a Web site to provide information and updates on its economic, environmental and social responsibility performance.
The new site outlines the company’s 2003 performance using the Global Reporting Initiative Guidelines as a foundation for identifying and measuring progress.
“Our new report showcases our commitment to transparency about our performance and how Baxter employees throughout the world live up to our shared accountability and make a difference in our communities,” Robert Parkinson, Baxter’s chief executive, said.
During 2003, the company said it launched new collaborations aimed at advancing sound business and environmental practices beyond Baxter and through its supply chain, including a business ethics toolkit for suppliers worldwide and the Green Supplier Network for the healthcare industry, launched in partnership with the US Environmental Protection Agency and the department of commerce.
“I firmly believe that success and sustainability are achieved through dialogue and the collective ideas and actions of individuals across the organisation, and not just by words in a mission statement or special programs and objectives,” Parkinson said.
