Understanding nature’s risks and opportunities: André-Martin Bouchard on TNFD and sustainability
A Trellis Executive Interview Read More
What are our relationships and dependencies with nature?
As more corporations measure the risks and opportunities associated with nature, André-Martin Bouchard, Global Director of Earth and Environment at WSP, discusses the importance of integrating these factors into financial decision-making. Bouchard highlights the recently launched guidebook with the UN Global Compact Network in Canada, designed to help companies adopt the TNFD (Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures) framework, making it easier for businesses to disclose their impacts and dependencies on nature, similar to how the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TFCD) addresses climate risks.
With nearly 30 years in environmental consulting, Bouchard also shares insights on WSP’s work in biodiversity, water quality, and carbon emissions. He talks to Theresa Lieb, VP, Nature and Europe at Trellis Group, about projects like the Giant Mine in Canada, focused on site closure and land restoration, and emphasizes the role of community involvement, particularly First Nations, in ensuring long-term success and sustainability.
