Nominations for the 2023 GreenBiz 30 Under 30 list are now closed.

One of my favorite activities during our annual GreenBiz conference is speaking with past honorees of the annual GreenBiz 30 Under 30 report, which recognizes rising young leaders in sustainability and ESG strategy, climate tech, sustainable finance and circularity.

I personally learn so much from their fresh perspective, and it’s exciting to hear about their career progressions and detours. In case you’re new to the community, I encourage you to “meet” the class of 2022. And you can read about other past classes (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021).

As I prepare to reconnect this week at GreenBiz 23 with some of the 210 individuals GreenBiz editors have selected in the past, I’m pleased to share that nominations for the 2023 list — our eighth annual — are open.

What does it take to be selected from the hundreds of applications the editorial team receives? What gets our attention are stories about individuals tackling tough challenges as corporate strategists and practitioners, as climate tech entrepreneurs, as financial wizards, as nonprofit climate advocates, and more. We’re seeking those who have made their mark in some demonstrable way and who exemplify the intrinsic value of diversity in all its forms — race, gender, ethnicity, country of origin, physical or cognitive ability. All the things.

Given the list’s publication date, the nominated individuals must have been born after Sept. 5, 1993. To put it another way, their 30th birthday must fall after Sept. 5, 2023.

The deadline for nominations was March 31. Individuals selected by the GreenBiz editorial team for this year’s cohort will be contacted confidentially in the early spring. We regret that we cannot individually contact candidates who are not finalists. But we do encourage repeat nominations — especially as individuals log more milestones in their early careers.
